When in 1990 for the first time more than one (Sun3) Workstation was bought, Caterina Savi started the idea that we would name these workstations in such a way to honor statisticians and mathematicians. We chose to focus on the first names.
Hypatia was the famous Hypatia from Alexandria, one of the first famous female scientists ('hypatia' was for many years our file, mail and web server)

The computing servers of the SfS are named
