Computer introduction and important things to know aboutSfS

There are two versions of the file "Welcome at SfS": /u/sfs/documentation/welcome-at-sfs/welcome-at-sfs-students.pdf for students and /u/sfs/documentation/welcome-at-sfs/welcome-at-sfs-staff.pdf for new employees.

Ruben and Martin are responsible to keep these up to date. Mistakes and or requests for changes should be directed to them. The files are accessible under tutorials/welcome-at-sfs.git .

Nota bene: The deprecated documents "Computerbenutzung (und mehr) am SfS" and "Eine kleine Einführung für Doktoranden" are not updated anymore. Please do not distribute them anymore. The information in these files and more have been integrated in "Welcome at SfS" .

R Tutorials

The up to date R tutorial can be found on the Uebungsserver under tutorials/r-einfuehrung.git . Information on adapting the R tutorial can be found in how-to-ueb.pdf.

Sweave Tutorial

An expansive tutorial on Sweave can be found at : /u/sfs/documentation/Sweave/Sweave-tutorial.pdf

It contains among other things:

1. an introduction how to work with Sweave files
2. many examples that one can copy and adapt
3. Sweave Settings that are recommended and that are used by efault in the SfS exercises.
4. Information to use a refined Makefile to compile Sweave projects
5. Tipps and tricks to create beautiful PDF files with Sweave

Computer Einführung und Wissenswertes übers SfS

Es gibt 2 Versionen der Datei "Welcome at SfS": /u/sfs/documentation/welcome-at-sfs/welcome-at-sfs-students.pdf für StudentInnen und /u/sfs/documentation/welcome-at-sfs/welcome-at-sfs-staff.pdf für neue MitarbeiterInnen.

Ruben und Martin sind zuständig die Dokumente à jour zu halten. Fehler und Aenderungswünsche bitte bei ihnen melden. Die Datei ist unter tutorials/welcome-at-sfs.git verfügbar.

Nota bene: Die alten Dokumente "Computerbenutzung (und mehr) am SfS" und "Eine kleine Einführung für Doktoranden" sind veraltet, und werden nicht mehr aktualisiert. Bitte nicht mehr verteilen. Die Informationen in den Dokumenten (und vieles mehr) wurden in das neue "Welcome at SfS" integriert.

R Tutorials

Das aktuelle R-Tutorial ist auf dem Uebungsserver unter tutorials/r-einfuehrung.git verfügbar. Informationen zum Anpassen vom R Tutorial finden sich im how-to-ueb.pdf.

Sweave Tutorial

Ein ausführliches Tutorial um mit Sweave zu arbeiten findet man hier: /u/sfs/documentation/Sweave/Sweave-tutorial.pdf (Englisch)

Es enthält unter anderem:

1. eine Anleitung/Einführung wie man mit Sweave Dateien arbeitet
2. viele Beispiele die man übernehmen und abändern kann
